"Will", Not "Might"

Ps. 138:8

"The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me;

Your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.

Do not forsake the work of your hands."

God gave me this verse in 2011.

I love the phrase "will fulfill."

"Will fulfill", not "might fulfill".

His purpose for me will be accomplished.

Dear perennial heart, bloom with joy,
for "will fulfill" means that there isn't even the tiniest hint of uncertainty.

Do You Have a Perennial Heart?

I have always loved flowers, so I relish the beauty of spring and summer gardens. The paintbrush of God never ceases to amaze me, and I see His glory in the beauty that surrounds me.

During my years as an Army wife, I began to notice that the women living on military installations rarely planted perennials. They usually planted annuals that only bloomed for that season. I finally realized that this is probably because these ladies were never guaranteed to be in one spot long enough to see their beloved plants bloom again the next year.

For much of our married life, my husband and I have dealt with a great deal of uncertainty. I joked for a long time about writing a book called A "Perennials" Heart in an "Annuals" Life (and I still might someday!), but for now I use this blog as a way to remind myself (and my fickle heart) to return to the unchanging truth of Scripture again and again, even through the changes and uncertainties of life. I invite you to come join me in speaking the truth to one another, putting down roots in Heaven instead of earth. I invite you to have a perennial heart-- to bloom with joy where God plants you and to be renewed by unchanging truth again and again.
